    Position Description:

    The skilled craft helper is responsible for providing support and assistance to skilled craft positions such as carpenters and laborers. Tasks include construction and repair of building frameworks and structures and general support for concrete operations, ironwork, and masonry.

    Position Qualifications:

    • If under the age of eighteen (18), must be enrolled in Careers in Construction PACT Core Program or other similar program compliant with applicable local law.

    • Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program.

    • Experience using small power tools and assorted hand tools, including ten-pound sledgehammers, shovels, picks, handsaws, skill saws, and drills.

    • Must be able to take initiative and ask questions.

    • Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions.

    • Must provide their own safety footwear.

    • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders.

    • Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.

    • Must be reliable and punctual. This includes having reliable transportation and consistent work attendance.

    • Willingness to learn and collaborate with the team.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • OSHA 10 Certification.

    Essential Duties:

    • Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints and other written instructions to assemble products.

    • Accurately measure and calculate the size and amount of material needed.

    • Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials, machinery, and tools.

    • Prepare areas for the placement of concrete which involves final excavation of dirt and rock and fine grading for floor slabs.

    • Job shadow in area assignments to gain broad trade experience and ensure project knowledge and skill progression.

    • Assist with area housekeeping.

    • Promote a safe work environment and communicates jobsite hazards by helping to secure the jobsite at the end of business each day and verifying that all site materials are properly stored.
