  • Overview

    SOSi is seeking a Site Supervisor in Virginia to support our federal law enforcement customer. Our job is to provide live monitoring, translation, transcription, and interpretation support for our customer's ongoing and upcoming investigations. These investigations are required to be re-authorized every 30 days by the customer, thus the assignments for our linguists are temporary based on the needs of the customer. Additionally, these assignments require the flexibility to work assigned shift schedules, including the possibility of nights and weekends. Shift hours will differ from assignment to assignment, based on the needs of the customer. The ideal candidate will be a computer savvy, "self-starter", capable of hitting the ground running and flexible to support assignments on very short notice.

    Assignments may include language services for anticipated routine interactions as well as language services that support emergency situations with time-sensitive requirements. These services will be required to support real-time law enforcement operations in various locations throughout the country.

    The Site Supervisor will work in support of our program management to support daily operations and serve as the primary point of contact for multiple projects and assignments across our customer's operational location nationwide.

    Essential Job Duties

    • Reports to the Program Manager

    • Assists Program Manager with daily operations to include:

    • Provides customer project estimates.

    • Manages personnel both on and off-site.

    • Controls assignments process and tracks through conclusion.

    • Monitors and reconciles labor hours daily, weekly, monthly and per case, per project, per contract.

    • Coordinates staffing requirements with our recruiting teams.

    • Coordinates security requirements and submittals with both our security department and customer's security team.

    • Coordinates and manages employee performance evaluations.

    • Manage multi-level translation/transcription projects received from multiple operational sites.

    Minimum Requirements

    Site Supervisor must have extensive knowledge of language services contract that include the following

    • Management/supervisory experience in languages services contracts

    • Monitoring live communication and listen to or read foreign language communications lawfully intercepted, and perform immediate verbal summaries, then subsequent written or typed summaries, into the English language.

    • Transcribe audio/video and written communications to and from source language to English as required.

    • Translate by rendering the spoken word or written word to and from source language to English as required.

    • Interpret consecutively or simultaneously to and from source language to English as required.

    • Summarize by providing concise and accurate synopsis of oral or written communications that contain the identity of the speakers or correspondents, and all locations and events mentioned that pertain to the subject of the communication.

    • Providing reliable, accurate gist's and summaries of intercepted communication to law enforcement officers.

    • Attending federal and state legal briefings, known as Title III minimization, prior to the beginning of any new investigation.

    • Assisting law enforcement officers in the preparation of evidence and investigation summaries for the possibility of federal or state trials.

    • Serving as a "fact" witness in federal or state court when subpoenaed to testify.

    • Maintaining regular communication with the program manager and keeping them informed of available hours/days/shifts for upcoming assignments.

    • Performing other duties as assigned by the customer or the Program Manager.

    • Coordinate the management of quality control processes across program wide operations.

    • Must be 18 years old or older.

    • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.

    • Be a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Residents who are in the U.S. legally and have legal work status. Only contractor personnel who are U.S. citizens will have access to classified documents.

    • Minimum of three years of translation/transcription experience in the required foreign language.

    • Have demonstrated proficiency in English and the target language as demonstrated through testing. Testing shall have occurred no more than five years prior to the analytic linguist commencing work:

    • Certified or the ability to become certified in listening, speaking, reading, and writing language proficiency in target native language and English.

    • Familiarity with Title III specific Intercept Systems is a plus:

    • Jatom Systems Incorporated (JSI) VoiceBox Intercept System - A digital communications intercept collection system used by law enforcement agencies to conduct court authorized and other lawful communications intercepts.

    • Pen-Link Lincoln Intercept System - A digital communications intercept collection system used by law enforcement agencies to conduct court authorized and other lawful communications intercepts.

    • Strong oral communication skills to effectively communicate with law enforcement officials of varying backgrounds.

    • Ability to understand slang and colloquial expressions in your native language, and the ability to translate these into English while still conveying the original meaning and context.

    • Excellent command of English with the ability to produce clear and concise written translations, transcriptions, and summaries.

    • Proficient in Microsoft office applications and ability to learn to use new software.

    • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute (WPM).

    • Familiarity with a variety of media storage including cassettes, videos, and digital media.

    • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Spanish speaker preferred.

    • Individuals with experience as a linguist in support of defense, intelligence, or law enforcement agencies.

    • Individuals who currently possess a federal law enforcement clearance or access with the Department of Defense (DoD) clearance, Department of Justice (DoJ), or Department of Homeland Security (DHS) welcomed.

    • Individuals who are flexible and eager to support assignments on short notice and available for multiple shifts to include weekends.

    Work Environment

    • Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

    • All work is performed on-site.

    • No work will be performed remotely or virtually.

    • Office environment with different locations depending upon assignment.
