SUMMARY

An employee that has thorough work experience and assessment testing shown to be competent to perform duties of assisting a pipefitter (under a qualified pipefitters directions) or boilermaker (under a qualified boilermakers directions); in the removal, disassembly, assembly, replacement and testing of existing or new installations of different types of plant piping systems and structural components for steam, hot/cold water, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processes according to blueprint, design or client specifications using both hand and power tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

• Utilizes AltairStrickland Safety Analysis Program (ASAP) and or a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) that encompasses all aspects of safety considerations including: federal, state, local, client and or company regulations in completing all tasks.

• Utilizes hand, electric, pneumatic & hydraulic tools applicable to complete the assigned task in a safe manner utilizing appropriate inspections and PPE requirements.

• Assist with the work to select types and sizes of pipe, materials, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, maintain pipe systems,

• Assist with cutting pipe using saws, hand cutters, hammers, chisels, cutting torches, and pipe cutting machines, thread pipe, using hand threading tool and powered threading machines,

• Assists with placing jack stands, attaching rigging for movement and lifting of components, perform hand and verbal crane signals to a crane operator,

• Assists with bending pipe with hand or powered pipe bending tools, align parts and components for fitting and assembly by welding, bolting, caulking, soldering, brazing, fusing or cemented joints.

• Assists in securing pipes with clamps, stands, hangers etc., connect and assemble components and systems for testing and test systems or components according to codes or standards as directed by a pipe fitter.

• Takes directions from designated Pipefitter/Boilermaker

• Assist with cutting, grinding, and buffing of surfaces/material.

• Ensures job task location is kept in a clean and organized manner.

• Makes frequent trips to tool room/lay down areas to procure additional tools and materials.

As directed, may perform other tasks, functions, or project duties not associated with the primary assigned craft to best facilitate operational schedule in correlation with the individual's ability, qualifications, and skill-set to safely and efficiently complete.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Shall be willing and able to learn all aspects of the work assigned with a minimum of supervision.

• Should have a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Preferred: One (1) year prior work experience in an industrial or construction environment.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
