Tectum, a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries and one of eleven North American plants, is looking for an experienced* Electrician *to join our Maintenance Team. Tectum has over 70 years of experience and innovation producing wall, roof and ceiling tiles. We currently employ ~100 people across 2 shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of our Tectum product. The hourly rate for the Electrician is $29-$34/hour depending on skillset. Medical, Dental and Prescription premiums are 100% paid for employees and their families. This is well above industry standard and a huge cost savings to the employee.
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for effectively maintaining electrical equipment, process control systems and mechanical equipment/processes in a way that contributes to the continuous improvement of the Tectum plant manufacturing processes and overall performance.
In this important role, the Electrician will provide shift support for all electrical and technical problems that might arise with equipment as well as completing predictive and preventive maintenance work. This position also acts as a subject matter expert regarding electrical components of plant equipment for Kaizen events.
Follow all safe work practices and procedures. Wear all prescribed personal protective equipment. Ensure all proper lockout/tag out procedures are followed. Follow NFPA70E guidelines.
Install, maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems including installing conduit and wirings, motors, instrumentation, recording devices, relay logic, starters and temporary wiring setups.
Diagnose and correct electrical malfunctions so as to maintain equipment in a state of operating effectiveness.
Maintain and repair plant instrumentation.
Develop wiring diagrams as necessary.
Repair, maintain, test and calibrate instrumentation and equipment of various types including flow meters, thermocouples, HMI, laboratory control instruments, loop controllers, PLC and process control and related networks, page phones, radios, chart recorder, servo motors and systems and various other forms of electrical/electronic equipment.
Demonstrated experience using construction practices per National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements including but not limited to: conduit bending, cutting, installing fill rates, conduit and conductor sizing, over current protection and grounding.
Complete records and inventory of supplies necessary for performance of jobs.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical devices and other equipment.
Maintain personal work tools.
Participate on Lean Manufacturing teams as opportunities arise.
Perform other duties as required to maintain or improve plant reliability.
Conduct daily safety risk assessments on routine and non-routine job tasks.
Must have at least 15 years of electrical work experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Effective troubleshooting skills as demonstrated by the ability to use drawings and technical manuals, test equipment, soliciting information from other resources (i.e. production techs, mechanics, etc.).
Proven ability to perform temporary installs or repairs and later follow up to make permanent.
Proficient skills using ControlLogix including ability to wire and build motor control circuits (AC/DC) and lighting control circuits.
Safety-conscious work habits such as lock out/tag out, proper use of personal protective equipment, and possesses a knowledge of potential for personal injury and equipment damage while performing jobs.
Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA70E and other applicable safety and industry codes.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work closely with production operators, engineers, and managers.
Must be willing to work overtime and some weekend shifts to support the production process.
Ability to work in a cross functional team assisting other maintenance technicians as work requires.
Extensive knowledge of setting up and configuring variable speed drives (Allen Bradley).
Extensive PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley ControlLogix).
Experience replacing and configuring HMI's (Allen-Bradley Panelview Plus).
Able to effectively establish communications and troubleshoot Ethernet/Device net communications networks.
Journeyman's License preferred
Previous experience using a CMMS (SAP) work order system.
Lean manufacturing and 5S experience.
Education and/or Experience
Possess High School Diploma or GED equivalency
15 years of electrician experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
Ability to pass basic comprehension assessments.

This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions. Required PPE includes: Safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite boots, and pants. Must be available to work at any time, day (including weekends) and rotating shifts.
