Job Summary
Assist the driller in organizing and planning work for the shift
Take An active role in developing crew skills
Communicate effectively with all parties
Relieve Driller and operates within set drilling parameters
Relieve Driller and operates within set tripping parameters
Assist with preparation to run, land and cement casing
Manage housekeeping and rig floor organization
Assist with organizing and carrying out nipple up/down operations
Operate and maintain draw works with specific limits
Operate and maintain top drive/Kelly within specific limits
Select, inspect, install and maintain correct handling tools for tubulars in use
Assist the Driller with cut and slip procedure
Operate and maintain accumulator, BOP and choke manifold in accordance with agreed procedures
Function test and verify that all available safety devices are fit for use
Function test and verify that Crown-O-Matic is fit for use
Engage and operate mud pumps within set parameters
Operate and use top drive/rotary controls
Operate and monitor PVT System
Operate and use draw works, weight indicator and auxiliary brake
Proficient in operating controls of manual tongs
Conduct flow check and react accordingly
React in accordance to the posted well control procedure during well control drills or even
Maintain pre-recorded well control date
Monitor and record trip tank volumes during tripping operations and recognize volume deviation
Assist the driller with BOP Test procedure
Identify different grades of tubulars and thread types in use
Use correct torque values in accordance with OEM specification
Ensure proper OEM recommended care and maintenance
Accurately record all tubular data prior to being run in the well
Understand the permit to work system and comply with the conditions
Assist in maintaining accurate pipe tally and BHA record
Provide a detailed tour handover
More than two years of experience on a drilling rig
Certified in Well Control
High School diploma or equivalent
Pace Certified
Demonstrate leadership qualities
Advance level of mechanical knowledge of rotary drill equipment, mud circulating systems, well shut-in procedures, ability to recognize signs of kick and loss
of fluid situations as well as the procedures for circulating kick out, i.e., trip tank level, pit level, and mud weight change. Also, good working knowledge
Preferred qualifications
