Overview:
Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documentation to prepare accurate time, cost and labor estimates that result in competitive bids by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities:
Identifies good bid opportunities.
Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
Prepares estimates for work that can be completed with company’s labor, material and equipment.
Does accurate take-offs.
Requests, receives, and evaluates subcontractor and major material quotes.
Reviews project with sales person.
Maintains price books and product library.
Maintains effective relationships with vendors.
Other duties may be assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Curtainwall industry experience preferable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employee of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Ability to use computer software, and advanced in utilizing Excel spreadsheets. Skill in using scales and scientific calculators. A mechanical aptitude for understanding construction methods. Knowledge of how to read blueprints and understanding of specification books.
