Senior Electrical Designer 
 
Role Overview
 
This position is for an Electrical Control or Physical Senior Designer performing electrical and power system designs on a nuclear project with work in the Southeastern United States with overall responsibility for the production of engineering deliverables required to complete construction of a nuclear power plant.
 
This individual will be working under the direction of more senior engineers/designers. Responsibilities include the production of higher tier and conceptual drawings and documentation related to the design of electrical power distribution systems within the electrical discipline. This design will generally fall under the area of physical and/or electrical controls design.
 
In the area of physical design, examples of this documentation and required skills may include:
* Layout drawings for electrical equipment
* Cable tray and hangers
* Underground duct banks
* Above ground conduit and hangers
* Lighting
* Communications
* Cathodic protection and grounding
* Development of related calculations and material requisitions
* Knowledge of hazardous areas classifications and design for electrical equipment
 
In the area of controls design, examples of this documentation and required skills may include:
* Logic diagrams
* Schematics
* Cable block diagrams and termination details
* Familiarity with circuit breaker and motor control as well as electrical controls for plant mechanical equipment and systems
* Development of related calculations and material requisitions will be required
 
Individual should be knowledgeable in the applicable codes and standards within the industry and familiar with construction and startup practices.


 
 
Basic Qualifications
* Electrical Engineering Technology Degree (EET) or two year degree in a related science or extensive experience in design and drafting.
* Minimum 5 years of practical design experience in electrical design within a related industry.
* Candidates responding to this posting must currently possess the eligibility to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
* Candidate must be capable of passing nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain an unescorted clearance to a nuclear power plant.
* Candidate must have excellent written and verbal skills.
* Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications
* Electrical Engineering Technology Degree (EET).
* Minimum 2 years of practical design experience within the power industry.
* Ability to produce design drawings in a 2D and 3D CADD environment
* Experience in computer based design tools such as lighting level calculations.
* Previous experience working in field environment at a power plant or related type facilities.
* Previous experience in the nuclear power industry.
 
Basic Qualifications Grade 26 (candidate must have all of the above listed Grade 25 basic qualifications in addition to the following)
* Minimum 10 years of practical design experience in electrical design within a related industry.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications Grade 26 (candidate must have all of the above listed Grade 25 preferred qualifications in addition to the following)
* Minimum 5 years of practical design experience within the power industry in computer based design tools such as lighting level calculations.
* Previous experience working in field environment at a power plant or related type facilities.
* Previous experience in the nuclear power industry.
 
 
The individual must have the ability towalk in excess of a half mile in all weather conditions: into and out of the project (enter/egress), climb stairs into each trailer multiple times during a shift, and walk on uneven & unpaved surfaces.
