Carpenter
The Opportunity: To perform any type of rough or finished carpentry work required in maintenance, construction, alteration and repair of plant or mine buildings and equipment.
Accountabilities: - Interprets part and assembly drawings - Plans sequence of operations and job methods - Calculates and estimates material requirements - Selects materials and tools most suitable for job required - Sets up and operates woodworking machines and uses hand and power tools - Performs a variety of carpentry work such as construction, fabrication and repair - Builds forms for concrete - Locates and installs prefabricated wood and metal parts - Dismantles, erects and repairs various types of roofing and flashing - Builds or erects special scaffolding, bulkheads, refractory forms, benches and shoring to specification - Erects, rigs and works from staging, scaffolds and ladders - Fabricates cradles, crates and skids for transporting heavy equipment or material - Installs flooring, ceiling and acoustic tile, suspended ceilings, wall paneling and trim - Inspects, cleans and maintains trade tools and equipment; submits verbal and written reports - Keeps assigned area safe and tidy
Education: - The ideal candidate will have 4 years progressive experience (apprenticeship included) and tube scaffolding experience
Experience: - The ideal candidate will also have at least 10 years of scaffolding experience or scaffolding ticket
