EXPERIENCE:
3 years of experience of asbestos abatement oversight. Position requires candidate to have a personal vehicle, valid driver's license and ability to obtain a security clearance. Candidate must be medically qualified to wear a respirator and able to obtain a satisfactory fit test for respirators. Candidate must show proficiency in reading asbestos air samples.

Candidate must have experience reading Plans and Specifications for construction projects. Candidate must have strong skills in MS Word and Excel. The position requires the candidate to be able to climb ladders and lift 50 pounds. The work will include overtime, working all three shifts -- including graveyard and some work on nights and weekends.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Candidate will provide Hazardous Materials abatement oversight and air sampling for commercial/industrial project sites including asbestos, lead and other hazardous materials. The work will include bulk sampling of suspect asbestos containing materials, completing daily logs documenting the abatement work of the contractor and collecting air samples outside of the work area. As the work areas are complete, the candidate will be responsible for conducting visual clearance inspections to verify that the work is complete and collecting clearance air samples prior to re-occupancy of the space. Other regulated materials that may be included in the scope of work include lead, mercury and PCBs.

. May perform quantitative and qualitative analyses according to prescribed standards to determine characteristics or composition of solid materials and substances.
. May inspect and maintain equipment for air sample collection.
. May prepare and ship environmental samples to analytical laboratories, including sample labeling and the completion of chain of custodies.
. May prepare samples for testing, record data, and prepare summaries and charts for review.
. May prepare proper documentation of analysis and provide a monthly status report on equipment and services performed.
. Maintains quality control and quality assurance records for field activities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
. Ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
. Ability to climb ladders, work at heights and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
. Ability to wear an air-purifying respirator as required by OSHA Standards.
. Ability to wear supplied air and SCBAs as needed.
. May require enrollment in the medical monitoring program requiring initial and annual physicals and initial and random drug screens.
. Valid driver's license with a good driving record and the ability to travel and drive regularly, often long distances.
